About this mezcal
Mal Bien Zacate Limón is an original recipe from the late maestro mezcalero Lucio Morales Lopez in San Dionisio Ocotepec, Oaxaca. This mezcal is now produced by his surviving family, specifically his son Oscar Morales. Freshly cut lemongrass is added to the stills before the second distillation, and a bit more is macerated in the finished product for an extra touch of aromatics and color.
Mal Bien
Since 2016, the Mal Bien team has been traveling Mexico, driving off the map and into mountains filled with treacherous roads, police officers of questionable moral character, feral dogs, indigenous languages, narcos, ancient relics, machete wielding protestors, insect based meals, mudslides, blockades, corrupt politicians, and many of the world’s kindest, funniest, most brilliant people. In addition to some hard to believe stories, they’ve connected with a wide variety of traditional producers, whose mezcal is now bottled and exported under the Mal Bien name.

668 reviewsI love Mal Bien and like the regular Espadin from this producer but the lemongrass on this is super strong. It is not great sipping straight. I’m not a fan of lemongrass in mezcal and have never had a good one; this includes the expensive Siembra Metl lemongrass releases. To be fair though, this is priced to mix and I’ve made margaritas with these and everyone (including me) enjoyed them. This is $30 retail which is crazy cheap for a fun mixer – give it a try for cocktails.
