Oscar Hernandez

Oscar Hernández Santiago is a 4th generation Maestro Mezcalero. He also spent many years working as a magueyero. Oscar was born and raised in Matatlán, Oaxaca, Mexico. His mother, “La Jefa”, was who taught him how to make mezcal when he was 14 years old. When the brand Gracias a Dios was formed, he became an equal partner. Though many of the agaves are grown on Oscar’s land, his experience as a magueyero has been essential for the brand’s ability to source a wide array of agaves grown elsewhere.
