About this destilado de agave
Agua del Sol Jabali Puntas from la Familia Monterrosa is produced in Santiago Matatlán, Oaxaca. The agave are cooked in an underground pit oven, milled by horse drawn tahona, fermented with open air yeasts in cypress and pine vats, and double distilled in copper pot stills.
When Felix Monterrosa founded the Cuish mezcaleria, which sources Agua del Sol, it was in part a practice of exploring and honoring his family’s long heritage in the mezcal culture of Oaxaca. In 2022, Felix and Rosalinda, along with their mother, Emilia, were able to restart a family palenque of their own in Santiago Matatlán.
Agua del Sol
Agua del Sol was created by Felix Hernández Monterrosa and Adriana Correa, who are perhaps most well-known as the owners and operators of the Mezcales CUISH mezcalerias in Oaxaca City. Given the demands of the two mezcalerias, as well as some additional agave projects, the two of them created Agua del Sol with the intention of using to brand to present tiny batches of mezcal to the world.

161 reviewsincredible!i dont know that i can sum it up but i will try.this is a very rare bottle and was glad to be able to purhase one.very green notes.cinnamon notes and molasses cookies.never reveals the 58% abv.too complex for one sample.this will require more than one tasting .long finish with a very pleasant deep heat.exalted!minutes after tasting it still expands with sweet and spicy flavors.this should be for the most special occasions!

This is probably the most unique and delicious agave expression I have had to date. As a puntas at 58% ABV, it is so rich and complex on the nose. Leaving it out to breathe a bit I get toasted spices, green pepper, and fire roasted caramelized notes. With only 30 bottles produced, my bottle being the 27th this is a rare experience. There is a complex smokiness that is pronounced but well rounded and not distracting. This is a must try if you can get your hands on it!
