About this destilado de agave
Chacolo Triple Destilado Azul Telcruz – Ixtero Amarillo is a destilado de agave from Zapotitlan de Vadillo, Jalisco. The first time they made this type of triple destilado it was out of necessity, because some cooked agave accidentally fell into the already made 2x distilled mezcal and had changed the color. They decided to redistill it to clean up the color and they loved the finished product. Now they intentionally repeat this every once in a while, adding cooked agave to already 2x distilled mezcal and then distilling it again. This was aged 7 years in glass before bottling.
Chacolo
The Partida family, lead by Don Macario, has been making their iconic “mezcales” for 5 generations in Zapotitlan de Vadillo, Jalisco, however due to legalities they can neither call their product mezcal nor tequila. They are renowned among mezcaleros and mezcal aficionados for the amazing spirits that are meticulously made from the 15 different agave varietals that they have been collecting from their region for three generations. These varietals include 14 A. angustifolia sub varietals and 1 A. rhodacantha sub-varietal.

736 reviewsLot 001 from 2016. This smells incredible. Notes of Sweet Tarts, Goetze candies, and strawberry Cream Savers. This smells like pure candy. The palate has notes of dark fruits like plums, pomegranate, and black cherries. There are also some hints of sweet cream. The tasting notes are still very sweet, but less so than the aromas. This is balanced and nuanced with deep fruity undertones. I’m enjoying this a lot.
