About this mezcal

Chinga Quedito Sierra Negra is produced by maestro mezcalero Bezaleel Arellanes in the community of Santa Catarina Minas, Oaxaca. This community is known for their ancestral mezcal, which is distilled in small clay pot stills. The Agave americana used in this mezcal were cooked in an underground pit oven, milled by hand with mallets, fermented with open air yeasts, and double distilled in the small clay pot stills for which this region of Oaxaca is known.

Batch 014. Aromas of dark fruits like plum and overripe papaya. There are also some herbal elements to the nose, with hints of allspice and burning sage. The palate is super soft and full. This has notes of peanuts, hickory, toffee, turkey gravy, and old leather. I’m really enjoying this one. It’s deep and changes in the glass the longer it’s out in the open air. This is a really nice Sierra Negra and probably my favorite of the Chinga Quedito lineup so far.
