Creyente Azul Cristalino Añejo Ensamble Mezcal is a unique release made using Espadin and Cuishe
About this mezcal
Creyente Azul Cristalino Anejo Ensamble Mezcal is something you might expect as an April Fools’ Day joke but it is real. Using magueys Espadín and Cuishe, the agaves are cooked underground, tahona-crushed, fermented, and then double distilled in copper pot stills. The resulting liquid is aged in new American oak casks. Before bottling, the color is filtered out to become a cristalino. Despite “Azul” being on the label, that is the name of this release (hence the blue glass bottle) and doesn’t refer to “Blue Agave” being present in the mezcal.
Creyente Mezcal
Mezcal Creyente was launched in the summer of 2016 by the tequila giant José Cuervo. They currently market a single blended mezcal to the international market. Creyente means “believer” in Spanish, as the brand was founded on the belief that anything is possible.
