About this destilado de agave
Cuish Fieles Difuntos from la Familia Monterrosa is produced in Santiago Matatlán, Oaxaca. This is made with maguey Espadin and Jabali, distilled with marigold flowers, seasonal fruits, and spices.
When Felix Monterrosa founded the Cuish mezcaleria and the subsequent brand Cuish years ago, it was in part a practice of exploring and honoring his family’s long heritage in the mezcal culture of Oaxaca. In 2022, Felix and Rosalinda, along with their mother, Emilia, were able to restart a family palenque of their own in Santiago Matatlán.
Cuish Mezcales
Mezcales Cuish is made up of rural producers that are dedicated to the production and commercialization of traditional Oaxacan mezcal from different regions and agave varieties.
For many years, Mezcales Cuish has operated a mezcaleria in Oaxaca City a few blocks southwest of Mercado Benito Juarez. A second location was opened in Centro, Oaxaca. In 2019, the brand began exporting to the United States. Mezcal Reviews lists a mix of their exported releases along with Oaxaca releases requested by website members.
