About this mezcal
Guia del Alma Espadin is made with capon maguey Espadin (Agave angustifolia) in the Oaxacan Upper Mixtec community of San Francisco Nuxaño. The palenque sits at 2,600 meters above sea level. This high altitude impacts the flavor of the spirit through the land, plants, water, and temperature of the region.
On the nose, look for moderate intensity, citrus notes of grapefruit mixed with notes of leather, lemon, tangerine, Serrano ham, and Chinese pomegranate. On the palate it is dry with initial floral and citrus notes giving way to flavors of walnut, honey, scented fig, light leather, and butter.
Guia del Alma Mezcal
Mezcal Guía del Alma began on a tourist trip to Oaxaca. The founders wanted to enjoy mezcal in the region and learn more about its culture. On this trip, the founders met Antonio Coronel, a 5th generation mezcalero located in the upper mixteca of Oaxaca.
All of the agaves they use are cultivated free of fertilizers. For each maguey that is cut for mezcal production, five new maguey are planted to ensure agave for future generations.
