Mezcalosfera Espadin con Cacao is a small-batch traditional mezcal that was released at the same time as the Espadin con mango y chile habanero.
About this mezcal
Mezcalosfera Espadin con Cacao is made by Margarito Cortes, who comes from a family that has been producing traditional mezcal for many generations. He works closely with all of the agave that he uses for his mezcal, and he is known for experimenting with the addition of different ingredients in an extra third distillation, similar to a Pechuga. For this mezcal, he added Cacao. The agave were roasted with mezquite and encino wood. It was fermented for eight days and distilled in a cobre con refrescadera still. This bottling was a total of 277 litres made in November 2016.
Mezcalosfera de Mezcaloteca
Mezcalosfera de Mezcaloteca is the exported bottling from Mezcaloteca, the famous bar in Oaxaca City that is renowned for their educational tastings. They source all of their agave spirits directly from producers in seldom-traveled parts of Oaxaca that are often hard to get to. They put an exceptional amount of information on their labels, and all of their releases are very small batches that exhibit the most unique characteristics of mezcal. Though only a few batches have been brought into the US, there are dozens upon dozens of different varieties available for sale at their tasting room in Oaxaca City.

161 reviewsthis brand is always a pleasure.it isnt the best of this label but it is very tasty.there is no mistaking the espadin smell and the chocolate aroma is reserved.the taste is very sweet and the bittersweet dark chocolate is up front.midway is when the espadin flavor comes in.the finish is a beautiful mix between the two.i dont really detect other distinct flavors but what you get is gentle (in spite of the high proof),sweet, and full flavored.this is worthy of praise. it is a chocolate lovers mezcal.

736 reviewsTons of rich, dark chocolate aromas with hints of bright tangerine and melon. This mezcal is very sweet on the palate with notes of dark chocolate and orange peel. This tastes more like a fine desert than it does a mezcal. Mousse and deep chocolate layers in this! Very tasty!
