About this destilado de agave
NETA Tobalá, Coyote, Madrecuixe, Bicuixe, Espadín was distilled by mezcalero Cándido García Cruz in the village of Logoche in Miahuatlan, Oaxaca. Here is what NETA says about batch ENNCAN1705:
With the arrival of the first full moon of March 2017, Cándido and family set out to harvest a mix of different magueyes, both cultivated and wild-growing on a chunk of family land known as La Mina. This (wild) Tobalá dominant ensamble was worked and carefully processed during the following weeks before being distilled in late April 2017. The wild grown Coyote is a natural hybrid of the Tobalá and Madrecuixe of the region – the product of shared pollinators and overlapping flowering times – and thrives in the rocky and sandy hillsides and ravines in the area surrounding Logoche. Quite rare, it typically grows near Tobalá and has long been mixed together for the crafting of spirits in the region. Since the latter half of the 20th Century, it has become commonplace in Miahuatlán to mix Madrecuixe, Bicuixe, and Espadín together in various proportions, so it was a logical choice for Don Cándido to include these three agaves to concoct this unique batch.
NETA
NETA is a colloquial word in Mexico that translates to “the real deal” or “the truth”. Since 2012, the brand has worked closely with several small, family producers and a cooperative of twelve palenqueros from the southern valleys and hills of Miahuatlán, Oaxaca. The region has preserved its reputation for producing some of the finest mezcales and agave spirits anywhere in Mexico. The team behind NETA presents a carefully curated selection of extraordinary spirits that would otherwise never be found outside of its place of origin.
A note about NETA labels: The total bottle count written on the front label might be less than the total batch size. Batches may be split between Mexico, Europe, and the US; the handwritten bottle count represents the number of bottles imported into a particular country.
