About this mezcal
Quiquiriqui Mezcal Tobala is produced in Las Margaritas, Oaxaca by Don Petronilo using wild maguey Tobala. Production is limited to protect the wild agave population. Don Petronilo produces this mezcal using traditional techniques which begin with pit roasting, then crushing the cooked agaves with a tahona, and then naturally fermenting in wooden containers. Quiquiriqui Tobala has aromas of coconut with flavor notes of tropical fruits, light smoke and buttery popcorn.
Quiquiriqui Mezcal
Quiquiriqui Mezcal was established in 2011 and partners directly with families who have been producing traditional mezcal in their communities for generations. Their Mezcals are made to order in small batches using locally grown agave plants, harvested when mature, then cooked, fermented and distilled using traditional methods. The name “Qui-Qui-Ri-Qui” (pronounced Kee-Kee-Ree-Kee) comes from the sound a rooster makes.
