About this mezcal

Salvación Tobasiche is made with mature wild maguey Tobasiche which is very scarce and takes between 9 to 10 years for maturity. Traditional mills, firewood, underground pit-smoking, natural fermentation in small wooden vats and distillation in copper and clay alembics, gives this mezcal a clean, yet powerful character. It is balanced with the aroma of earth and rain. The taste is herbal, sweet and smoky with light floral notes.

Salvacion Mezcal

The agaves used in Salvación Mezcal are harvested by hand and then roasted in an earthen pit at a 150 year old distillery. The roasted agaves are then crushed by a horse-drawn tahona. Salvación Mezcal is marketed as an ultra-premium artisanal mezcal. It is produced and bottled in Oaxaca, Mexico.

Lots of sugar and missing the wooden agave notes of the karwinskii species. Kind of thick mid-palate. Some sour grape funk on the finish. Lacking character but I can see some might enjoy the “smooth” aspect. Expensive for what it is. $20 for 1.5oz in Key West. Tasted next to Del Maguey Madrecuixe which was less expensive and more enjoyable.
