About this mezcal

Salvadores Mezcal

Salvadores Mezcal is a brand from Tlacolula de Matamoros, Oaxaca. The brand is a family company that was founded when the current producer’s great-grandfather began making mezcal in the early 1900s. Through several generations of learning and knowledge-transfer, they constructed the Casa Palacios Destilería in 2019 and officially registered the Salvadores brand in 2020.

BATCH TXS-4 2021, 48%, BOTTLE 54, 200ml

Nose – Light, vegetal and earthy; lemon-scented hand soap, very faint grass, mushrooms, wet asphalt, and some fresh produce.

Palate – Bright, acidic and hot! A brilliant hit of citrus; ripe oranges, jalapeños, green peppers, and a lot of honey.

Finish – The acidy wanes off into a mellow bittersweetness; orange rind and agave syrup.

Fantastic! A little hot to start, but absolutely enjoyable when it airs out. It’s boozy and robust, so unfortunately its abrasiveness pegs it down a notch. Another stellar surprise from Salvadores, classic Tep if I do say-so myself!

Lote: TEP-05 (2021) Botella: 96
Nose – Halved jalapenos. Violets. Olive oil. Cooked pasta.

Palate – Quite the combination of vegetal and floral notes. Icing sugar. Some shaved parmesan cheese in the finish. Definite alcohol burn in the back end. Very flavorful but definitely on the smokier side.
