About this mezcal
Se Busca Reposado is made from 100% agave Espadin in San Juan del Rio, Oaxaca by maestros mezcaleros Rodolfo and Mary Lopez Sosa. According to the Stoli Group, owner of Se Busca, their mezcal is manufactured at an unnamed distillery that’s owned by the family that has overseen the artisanal production process for generations. Se Busca Reposado is aged for 10 months in French oak barrels. This reposado mezcal has notes of coconut, sweet almond, and hazelnut along with notes of oak and mesquite.
Se Busca Mezcal
Se Busca Mezcal was launched by the Stoli Group, distributors of Stolichnaya Vodka, Cenote Tequila, and a handful of other spirits. Se Busca is marketed as a super-premium mezcal and represents the company’s entrance into the mezcal category. Se Busca means “wanted” and was created to embody the unapologetic, feisty and impactful rebel spirit of the women of the Mexican Revolution. Stoli Group was established in 2013 as the division responsible for the management, distribution and marketing of SPI Groups’s global spirit portfolio. The first bottles of Se Busca Mezcal arrived on shelves in July 2018.

Like other reviewers, I tried this Reposado Mezcal by starting with the Joven distillation from Se Busca. Its first surprise is the very soft nose that gives the scent of vanilla and caramel …with scorched caramel the only hint of smoke.
Tasting confirms the nose which blossoms into a warm floral taste, ending with a sustained mouth warmth.
This is an enjoyable “light” Mezcal that is equally fine for starting or ending a meal. Certainly not for those who prefer an in-your-face taste profile.

17 reviewsDisappointed. Aging (I tried joven which was okay) castrated this mezcal so far. Got only a sip and I am happy I didn’t get more. Probably aged mezcals aren’t my thing

8 reviewsI first got my hands on the Joven and thought it was alright. When I read that the reposado and anejo were aged in French oak I had to move up the chain. This repo is pretty good but didn’t have as much of that French oak as I would have liked. So I special ordered the anejo and it’s my favorite mezcal thus far. Keep in mind I’m a tequila freak who seeking out all of the mezcal I can that is NOT smoked.
