Lot VL001. Good minerality on the nose. Aromas of slate, hot limestone, and lime (the material, not the fruit). The palate has some smoke elements, similar to the lingering taste in your mouth after smoking a few Camels. There a bit of creaminess as well, like a light sour cream or salted cream cheese. Overall this is fine, just fine.

This is a nice starter mezcal at 42%. Lots of minerality and not smoke heavy. The cream cheese note from Agave Fairy’s review is spot on. I also get a bit of fruit and cucumber water. If the proof were a bit higher you’d likely get a bit more of the agave complexity. Not a bad option for that lower ABV range. I’d reach for Vaca Loca over something like El Silencio, 400 Conejos, etc. Lot VL001

VL001
Actually smells pretty nice… mineral, floral, Miahuatlan coming through pleasantly. Not smelling too thin for the proof, though a touch of light alcohol. Some mixed berries, a tiny hint of cream cheese, eucalyptus, papaya, cinnamon, lime zest.

Palate is a touch underwhelming, agave flavor is a bit vague, finish is a touch hot but with nice florality, some almonds and yeast. Texture isn’t too bad, it’s simple and easy. Serviceable.
