Aroma: fresh tennis balls, strawberry gushers and strawberry seeds, kiwi, new car smell. I keep coming back to the aroma over and over because there is a smell I can’t place but something that is very familiar to me. I agree with Jam in the review before mine that the aroma is intoxicating.
Taste: Wow, it’s an intense flavor of candy that I remember from my childhood but can’t place. Perhaps some sort of strawberry candy (similar to gushers but not that). It’s not too sweet and has a nice acidity to balance out the sweetness. The finish is very long with the lingering strawberry candy flavor and a slight funk to help round out the flavors.
Overall: Incredible 9.7/10

Aroma: Incredibly strong aroma that travels across the room of tropical fruit bubble gum and overripe pineapples. There is also a strong lactic funky smell past in initial blast of fruit, and I’m getting some mint as well.
Taste: This one smacks you across the face with parmesan cheese, pineapple, strawberry, and mint. Very werid combination but it works in small quantities. This is definitely a slow sipper (and only a few sips at a time at that), but I like it.
Overall: wish it were a bit more drinkable, as I’m done after a few sips, but I’d give it a 7/10 for weirdness.

Nose: very soft floral aroma with some tree bark and wet soil in the background. Very muted overall.
Taste: very sweet flavor with green apples, vanilla, sauteed greens, peppercorns, raspberry macaroons (the french kind, not the coconut). I feel like the age in glass has really mellowed out the flavors but also added a nice complexity and makes it really easy to drink.
Overall: So complex and fantastic 9.1/10

abv: 45%
Nose: nice lactic, cheesy smell initially, then I’m getting some chalk and granite. Also getting some guava and tropical fruits.
Taste: Nice meatiness up front and beautiful overripe fruits – passion fruit, pineapple, and strawberries. Less lactic notes in the taste than in the smell. It has a nice earthy, mineral note in the finish. Great balance between sweet, funky, grassy, and depth of fruits.
Overall: 9.0/10 Love this one, and I keep getting different flavors popping out after each sip.

Lot PED-PUN-001. 60% abv.
Aroma: Spicy Aroma with jalapenos, pine, and flamin hot Doritos.
Taste: Super concentrated flavors of peppers, citrus, pine, oyster brine, chocolate covered peppermint, cinnamon and cloves. This wallops you over the head with concentrated peppers and spices. But the oily texture helps prevent the harsh burn expected for a 60% abv Mezcal. It also has the deep umami in the finish that complements the initial sweetness.
Overall: Incredible Mezcal – one of my favorites.
Score: 9.8/10

Lot DAN-CEN-001. 46.4% abv
Aroma: Jalepenos mixed with smarties candy. I’m also getting some floral notes and a bit of lactic funk.
Taste: Citrus and plum along with some dark chocolate. I get some minerality and mint on the finish.
Overall: Very enjoyable and well rounded flavors. Nothing too crazy here, but it’s a solid mezcal for sure.
Score: 8/10

Aroma: very muted with a little bit of strawberry and green apple and a hint of red pepper.
Taste: some lactic funk and plastic in the taste. Also getting some raspberry, vanilla, and peppercorn in the finish.
Overall: this is not bad, but not very memorable either and one-dimensional.
Score: 7.5/10

Aroma: new car smell and brand new shoes, some tire rubber in there as well
Taste: Very minty – peppermint chocolate icecream. Hint of herbs in the finish.
Overall: I wasn’t expecting much from the aroma, but I like taste and the honey lavender finish.
Score: 8.5/10

Lot GIL-LAM-001
Aroma: I could smell this all day! Incredibly floral with grilled oranges and creme brulee and some jalepeno in the background.
Taste: As close to perfect as you can get. More orange and jalapeno along with vanilla custard and a hint of lactic funk. Incredibly balanced with just the right sweetness.
Overall: This is up there as one of my all time favorites.
Score: 9.8/10

Batch: DEE-JUL-001
Aroma: strong smell of dates and burnt sugar. Also there is some lingering spices and clay funk.
Taste: Wow, this tastes just like this Okinawa brown sugar candy I got a few years ago. It’s almost the excact same flavor as that candy. I do get a bit of meatiness from the deer, but it’s certainly in the background compared to the brown sugar bomb of flavor. The finish has a bit of funk and some cinnamon and allspice. I get a very slight trace of that guava in the finish, but it’s hardly there.
Overall this is very very sweet and makes for a pretty good after dinner dessert pour. But the brown sugar flavor really overwhelms everything else.

Nose: nice fruity aroma – orange and mango along with some mint in the background
Taste: I definitely get that leather and cedar note that others have mentioned and it’s a very nice complement to the grassy, mint, euclayptus herbal notes and the orange, pineapple, and bubblegum.
Overall: I love this one. I would call it very well balanced between the herb, fruit, and leather/wood. It’s sweet but not too sweet. Just an excellent sipper.
Score: 8.5/10

Aroma: orange zest and vanilla beans
Taste: grassy with brown sugar, vanilla and oak but not over oaked. You can still taste the underlying agave, but this is pretty one dimensional.
Overall I like this much more than most Reposado tequilas, but I prefer joven mezcals.
Score: 7/10

JAI-BAR-001. 58.9% abv.
Wow, for a nearly 60% mezcal, this drinks like 40% but with sooo much flavor. Incredible complexity in this one with so many different dessert qualities like baked bread, vanilla cupcakes with sprinkles, apple cake, sugar cookies, etc. But the bakery sweetness is nicely balanced with herbal, woody, ginger, mint, and green pepper. This is a banger of a mezcal. Maguey Melate hit this one out of the park. 9+/10

Batch ILD-JAB-001. 56.1% abv.
Incredible aroma of sandlewood and collard greens with some vanilla and orange in the background.
Taste has turnip greens, cedar, chocolate croissant, allspice, and so many complex flavors.
Overall I love how different this is than anything else I’ve ever tried. It’s one of the most complex but well balanced mezcals. 9/10

50ml sample. I get pineapple and anise in the aroma along with wet grass and granite. Taste is great with so much vanilla and grape big league chew balanced by sage and licorice and a pepper spice with some meatiness. Incredible Jabali – so complex and tasty! Overall 9/10

Batch: SIL-MAD-001 Bottle 713. 47.4% abv.
Peanut shells in the aroma along with wet grass and freshly picked green beans. Tastes like I’m licking a piece of granite, but in a good way. Nice earthiness and walnut flavor with some watermelon and basil. Nice sweetness level here too – not too sweet but complements the flavors nicely. Overall 8.5/10

I love the smell of this one – a bit of lactic funk, but with a strawberry aroma it reminds me of a nice cheesecake with strawberries on top. I also get some cotton candy and candy apples on the aroma. On the taste I get some parmesan and blue cheese, peppermint, and hatch chili with a nice cherry and peach sweetness. I love the combination of funky cheese and fruit with this. Not for everyone, but I dig it! 9/10

Not much on the nose, maybe a hint of granny smith apples. On the taste, it has an interesting dried fruit flavor but pretty one dimensional. I’m not picking up much apple, but I get unripe strawberries with a bunch of sugar. Very sweet mezcal, probably from the apples. It opens up nicely and the fruit flavors meld together better after an hour or so in the glass, so I recommend letting this on open up a bit. Overall 7/10.

Batch ADE-MAD-001 (56.7% abv). I’m very happy I got the higher abv batch as this is an incredibly good mezcal. I don’t pick up the higher abv – it’s not harsh at all. The vanilla and fruit and bubblegum flavor just explodes out of this. It’s very sweet, but I like that in a mezcal. A hint of BBQ smoke rounds out the sweet vanilla and tutti frutti flavors. Nice long finish. A nearly perfect mezcal – 9.7/10.

Aroma: candied orange, raisins, mint, and a faint tobacco/nice cigar smell
Taste: Mmmm, mexican chocolate with orange bitters, leather, golden raisins, and a hint of someone smoking a really nice cigar. There is a lingering green pepper and olive savory note in the finish along with brown sugar sweetness.
Overall this is a fantastic mezcal and I feel like I’m getting spoiled with my first taste of a Coyote. 9.5/10
