Avoid this Mezcal unless you like an acetone taste that overpowers any other flavors. Little to no smoke in the taste or nose.
Virtually undrinkable neat and you need a strong mixer (like V8 in a bloody Maria) to get this unpleasant Mezcal down.
There’s other, better options out there at this price point.

A nice light Mezcal good for mixing and sipping as long as you aren’t expecting a complex taste. It has enough smoke to satisfy a casual Mezcal drinker or a novice. Light on the nose but do not smell from the bottle as the rubber stopper imparts a very plastic odor. The 90 proof is a good bonus for those who use this in a mixed drink.

Like other reviewers, I tried this Reposado Mezcal by starting with the Joven distillation from Se Busca. Its first surprise is the very soft nose that gives the scent of vanilla and caramel …with scorched caramel the only hint of smoke.
Tasting confirms the nose which blossoms into a warm floral taste, ending with a sustained mouth warmth.
This is an enjoyable “light” Mezcal that is equally fine for starting or ending a meal. Certainly not for those who prefer an in-your-face taste profile.

Nose has light citrus with earthy sand-like notes.
Bright and fresh flavors on the palette that slowly expands to a light smoke and long, pleasant finish.
Excellent sipper that will satisfy but not overwhelm your taste buds.

The light, sweet nose gives little notice of the complex and wonderfully warm flavors that embody this agave spirit. With the first taste, the flavors expand from rich smoke to wood and light cinnamon; finishing off with agave and grassy fruit notes.
An excellent Mezcal from the Maguey Signature Box.

As this is my first taste of a raicilla, perhaps my dislike is predicated on an uninformed pallet. However, if the nose was not off-putting enough, the taste of spoiled milk on the tongue and quick moldy finish makes me happy to only have 100ml of this spirit.
