It is not as bad as expected. I’ve certainly tasted worse $60 celebrity mezcals. It is acidic and fades quickly but not offensive. Boring at best. I don’t get any of the wine barrel finish on my palate…
This is fantastic. Rich with tropical fruit with roasted agave and the clay pot distillation hanging gently in the background. Love it!
I was psyched to try this brand so I started with this Tep. I respect what they are doing with these destilados and trying to bring what otherwise would have to be adjusted to meet the CRM “Mezcal” standards. But this one just does not work for me. I love the nose – super herbal and promising. But on the palate it is bracing. A bit bitter and soapy and just not very pleasant to drink. I suspect I will enjoy some of their other offerings more….
I like this mezcal. I found the coyote to be a bit too heavy on the clay pot, but this one strikes the right balance. Both are excellent but OI prefer this one!
Very nice coyote. Some of the classic slate clay taste from Sola de Vega. While many people crave the strong clay pot profile, I found this to be ever so slightly heavy for me, so 4 out 5, instead of 5. Very good!
Lot MSG006, bottle 15. This is one kick ass cuishe! It is luscious on the front with bright tropical fruits – think mango and pineapple – and then it just glides into a lovely finish of rich roasted agave and lingers beautifully. Well done!
Ilegal Joven is my go to for cocktails and I am happy to sip it too! It is bright, fresh and citrusy. Is it super complex? No. But nothing in this $40 price range is. So you have to know what you are getting. In this case a solid espadin that is flexible enough to work well in cocktails or be sipped as well.
