El Buho Mezcal

Aug 14, 2024

Aroma is roasted agave, and vanilla. Palate is vanilla with a slight caramel note, leathery smoke, pepper finish. This Espadin opens up as you drink it keeping you entertained but it shines best used in cocktails. *I do not have the bottle information*

La Venenosa Raicilla Costa

Aug 14, 2024

Lot 45, 4/23. This is my first Raicilla I took back from Mexico so it special to me. Bottle #240 of 450. Aroma is nanolactone, mild-cheese like. Palate is cheese, cacao or milk chocolate bouncing around the tongue, with a small pepper finish. I like this one, I love the bottle and truly think it’s a great introduction to Raicilla.

Bacatt Bacanora

Aug 12, 2024

Lot#2305. Bottle #242. This is a beautiful bottle. Bacatt’s aroma reminds of wet grass right after a rainstorm, woody, and sweet minerality. The palate keeps you guessing – some sips give off a sweet, mesquite-oak note with a minty finish. Other times – the sweetness pulls you towards a peppery ‘cookies and cream’ note. This was one of my souvenirs back from CDMX and I’m having a hard time finding another bottle. This is now designated for special occassions!

Del Maguey Vida de Muertos

Aug 12, 2024

VDM-212. NOM-O41X. 6/24/2021. I really like this one out of the Vida’s. Vida de Muertos’ aroma is a light wood fire smoke, but a sweet strawberry syrup front. Palate is smooth, medium smoke throughout, and the sweet strawberry note dances around the front. Great, affordable bottle!

Rey Campero Pulquero

Aug 12, 2024

Batch DS001-PQR. Bottle 111/799. Initially bought this excited for a kimchi aroma, but I don’t get it. Aroma is pine, and something a little meatier than cabbage, possibly grilled asparagus. Palate is bright up front, slightly green and sweet. The alcohol bite is soft for 52%, could do damage! I really like sipping this Pulquero, first Atrovirens of the collection. Definitely worth getting a bottle.

Bozal Pechuga

Aug 12, 2024

This was my first Pechuga purchase, NOM-O472X. A. karwinskii Cuishe from Rio de Ejutla. Mild fruity aroma, with some smoke. Nose also reminds me of the small chocolates you eat when sipping mezcal at bars. The palate is mellow on the beginning, I get some minerality, but the finish is nice with the smokey chicken breast.
