Batch YR03-18 / Bottle 442/1440
Nose: Light Caramel & Vanilla and a touch of smoke.
Tastes of Sweet Toasted Espadin Agave mixed with a bit of mellowed barrel on the finish. Nice entry for someone interested in trying out an aged Mezcal without breaking the bank. I typically prefer my Mezcal un-aged, but its still fun to explore as I have enjoyed several bottles from the Yuu Baal lineup. Cheers.
Date: 02/19 – Lot: 18 – Bottle 54/390
Really unique and fun Raicilla from La Venenosa – Big sweet agave punch on the nose with tropical fruit undertones as well as tail end aroma of wet clay and earth. Nice oily mouthfeel, pepper burn and lemon zest finish with a slight touch of sweet/sour funk, in a good way. There is a lot going on with this pour, opens up nicely with time..
LOT A-02-EL-19 49.9% – Finishing off the last of this bottle and sad to see it go. The Toasted Corn “Elote” finish on this Mezcal is a delicious treat and a welcome twist on this celebration mezcal… I can sit and smell this one all day.. cheers, RIP Aquilino.
