I was already well-versed with Tequila and kept reading about the smokey alternative, but wasn't into smokiness, so I stayed away. However, one gorgeous fall day, I was sitting outside at Tacolu in Jacksonville meeting a friend for dinner and decided to give Mezcal a try out of curiosity. I was so amazed by the complexity and unique experience it brought that I had a hard time focusing on my companion across the table. Without hesitation, I bought a bottle on the way home.
