Lot9CITO-II Bottle 916/1800 A nice smooth mezcal. Green agave aroma with spices like coriander and lemon grass and a hint of smoke. On the taste it is also very herbal and pepper. Smoke comes mainly in the finish. I was surprised how smooth it is despite the very busy and colorful presentation. Good value for it’s price. Unfortunately not easy to find and not a very well known brand. His brother at 54% is also worth drinking.
Lot: SBG-E1501 made by maestro Panfilo Hernndez Reyes at San Baltazar de Guelavila in 2015. A nice fresh floral smell and taste with hints op mint. A little alcohol sting but a fine mezcal. I enjoy sipping this but it does not have a strong finish. It makes for easy sipping and danger of keep pouring it. More a mezcal for on the go, if such a thing exists…
This is a nice mezcal. Rich citrus/sour and caramel smell and a hint of sea buckthorn. `The flavor is much dryer and smoky, some wood and leather kind of flavor.Pepper finish. I keep going back to this tobala. The price is also ok, hence 4. Lot 01
Batch 06 from 2016. Nice fragrance of agave and sweets. It coat the mouth with nice taste of fruit and some mint. Smoke in the finish. Very well balanced and a lot of taste. Is it the wild espadin that makes the difference? Very rich and lovely mezcal
