I was pleasantly surprised by this mezcal: a very soft aroma, very little smoke, and almost a smell of fresh green grass. Clean opening, followed a hint of mint with star anise and notes of plantains. It finishes almost as soft as it began, with just a lingering of spice. Very subtle smoke. This isn’t extremely complex but perfect for sipping on a hot and lazy summer afternoon. Lot: ES01-19. Bottle: 374/3600. 2019.
I have come back to this bottle a few times and enjoy it more each time. Very citrus, slightly spicy at the start, with an herbal smoky finish. There is a lot going on here and you definitely need a few sessions with this mezcal to truly appreciate. Lot: 02319 from NOM-O472X
This mezcal fits perfectly into cocktails, but it is also easily the most bang for your buck as a sipper at around $38 a bottle; I think it holds its weight against any bottle under $50. Very nice smoke with a clean finish. Have one on hand for friends that are new to mezcal.
