LOT: 01719
Nose- definitely a bit hot and volatile, brown sugar, vanilla, roasted maguey and a bit of a gingerbread thing going on. Also classic bubblegum?
Palate- some spice (cinnamon), lime zest and…wet but not moldy cardboard. Boozey with this sort of alkaline finish.
Not flashy but reminds me of mexico.
This score on this page I would say is very accurate for this particular bottleIn between a 3.5 and 3.75 for sure.
I like this espadin, and definitely for the price.
I was first introduced to it as a mixer for cocktails but when I tried it neat I realized you could do alot worse.
Not overly complex but clean and balanced agave. A touch savoury, not insanely smokey either.
Worth having at your home bar.
First time having the X. I had the tobala which was definitely alright. This just came into Ontario. And it’s not an arm and a leg.
This is lighter but balanced. I don’t think there is a lot of Barril going on here but it’s good in a last word cocktail for sure. Also…It’s decent because it disappeared
Batch is from March 2019
Somewhat hard to pin down. There’s a lot going on.
I get some spice (cinnamon) and a bit of dried earth on the nose.
The palate is big and warm with a light sweetness in balance. It’s got a mineral persistence to it.
Grappa? Sort of plum brandy?
Sort of a 4-4.25
It’s good I like it.
Not much info on the bottle.
I believe it was produced in 2015.
Total production only 60 L.OUTSTANDING! Blew my mind when I first had it. First time having Lumbre/Belató.
NOSE:
Very medicinal on the nose. Also something like buttered popcorn and butterscotch/caramel going on as well.PALATE
A touch of spice to begin followed by a camphor/peppermintiness but SMOOTH for 50%. Great unctuous texture as well and an extremely long finish.
In my opinion an absolute steal for the price (about $100CAD for 750 mL!)
Simple, smokey, a bit of green capsicum, definitely boozey, can be used for cocktails but wouldn’t be my first choice.
Maybe an extra 1/2 star for it’s price point.
I got a bottle of this in Playa del Carmen. Went through to pretty quick.
It was a pretty good sipper and it made some good cocktails too.
Smooth, clay, some citrus, funk not overly complex but the price was right! Solid Arroqueño ensamble!
Definitely good for an Espadin and especially for the price I got it at.
Quite warm at 50% and very dry I found as well but otherwise nice balance of smoke and other flavours.
Decent sipper, nice for mixed drinks.
One of my first bottles I purchased for home years ago. I remember liking it but as I got farther down the rabbit hole of mezcal my interest in it faded.
Generous smoke, citrus. Grab it for cocktails if anything.
Clooney is cool, his juice though…ain’t.
Mass produced, bland, lacking any sort of complexity and any flavour present is not great.
They’re are probably worse mezcals out there but can almost guarantee they’re not as expensive as this. Abysmal.
Edition 4:
Again, very excited to sample this.
Initial nose screams peppermint as well as secondary notes of cinnamon and dried mild green chili.
The palate is extremely smooth with a long almost savoury mouthfeel. I’m still digging to sort out all the flavours.
I feel lucky today.
Edition 3:
So excited to try this.
On the nose, caramel, honey, ripe yellow apple. Perfectly incorporated smoke. Very very complex!
The palate carries through on the ripe yellow apple, almost stewed or saucy, slow-roasted pumpkin. I want this when it’s cold outside. Warm but well integrated alcohol.
Just insane, truly outstanding. I’m in heaven.
I’ve had this a few times now. It’ll pass as a base spirit for cocktails but I wouldn’t use the joven for sipping at all, especially if you are really into well crafted mezcals

Lot D5003-CR
November 2017
Initial nose of white rum/sugar cane, some citrus peel.
On the palate it’s a bit muddled. Not getting a ton of flavour definition. Definitely showing its 49.3% ABV.Overall the nose is quite nice but I’m not in love with it.
Not sure of the vintage or lot but I always think of cuishe as earthy, as well as, on the more pronounced mineral side of agave, and a bit of funky/dankness. And this was definitely those things. Good to try, but not my favourite subspecies of karwinskii.
Wasn’t able to get the lot or year and I only had a 1/2 oz sample but here it goes..
Interesting nose of flowers, celery and what I want to say as fresh artichoke??
The mouth feel was warm but distinctly full, more on the viscous side.
Very pretty to say the least. Wish I had had more try!
BATCH YJ28-16, BOTTLE 39/60
I love this bottle, although it’s one of the hardest I’ve ever had to make notes for. Definitely very earthy on the nose with some fruit and smoke. The palate shows great minerality with a fairly good balance of alcohol.
Didn’t get a chance to look at the bottle for year or batch number. On the nose pretty standard. Notes of ethanol charred poblano and a bit on the floral side.
The palate is not overly exciting but clean and relatively balanced. Finishes with a good length and tingle.
Lot: TOB-161
Dried pineapple and mango on the nose. On the palate, light smoked poblano with a subtle mineral finish. Definitely a good sip.
Lot: RML- 05? (a bit hard to read)
14 year Largo distilled in 2016. 492 litre production. Solid 4.5 mezcal.
Aromas of toasted coconut and smoked paprika. Palate is floral with a touch of sweetness that is very very well balanced considering the 50.5% ABV.
