I’ve not had a Pechuga that I’ve loved so far; most are OK, but just not my style. This one is intriguing, and the first one that I’ve truly enjoyed. First thought that comes to mind is kheer (Indian rice pudding, for those not in the know). Gives me a craving for some good Indian food.
I wouldn’t be surprised if this one ends up being polarizing… I’m sure some people will love it and some people will hate it.
On the nose: Cinammon, raisons, cardamom, starch (maybe that’s from the plantains), sweetness
Flavor wise: tastes pretty much like it smells, kheer! It’s even got a little bit of a creamy mouthfeel, and it’s sweet.
Batch RML-07 (2017).
Nose: totally get toasted peanuts on the nose up front, but after a couple of sniffs out of a Glencairn, I swear I get some bubble gum/sweetness!
Palate: Very smooth! Dust, clay, a little bit of savory up front, giving way to some fruitiness (banana), with a minty/tingly finish.
Fantastic!
Batch TB02-18 – August 2018.
This was my first bottle of 5 Sentidos (also have Sierra Negra and Pechuga de Mole Poblano). Holy moly, this is a fruit basket! Very sweet, fruity and floral, heavy strawberry. Very smooth/soft.
One of my favorites so far, although I’ve only bought/tried 8 bottles of Mezcal up to this point, slowly adding to my collection. Super bummed that this bottle is empty and I haven’t seen any recently.
