Middle of the road. Completely average. Not bad, but not something im dying to open again anytime soon.
I know Dalton said this was one of his favorites, but this was a gigantic miss for me. Almost couldnt finish the 2oz I poured for myself. One of the most harsh and messy agave spirits I can remember. Im down for cheesey/funky/earthy raicillas, but this is something else. Mulch meets paint thinner. Not for me. Will revisit, but damn this was not good the first time around. Dalton, if you are reading, im sorry đ
The absolute sure-fire A#1 release from Maguey Melate. May be the best mexicano ive ever had. Definitely the best Berta ive had. Just incredible stuff. Almost too much to list. In short: it packs a punch in flavor with not a lot of heat or harshness. Stellar!
What johnny said straight up. I thought this and the coyote together was the best overall box MM has put out thus far. Less harsh than a lot of other MM releases, some pine and coconut oil on the finish. Wonderful stuff
One of the better MM releases. Pine and sweet memphis bbq. Some stone fruit on back end. Enjoyable AF
Hits you up front with pears and apples. Papaya and cooked agave midway through. Finishes with some harsh heat and wet stone. Slightly above average for me
Honey, baking spices, licorice. Complex but not hitting the right notes for me I guess. Would love to know others thoughts on this one.
Not sure if for me. Mineral water, herb garden, prickly pear-ish notes in mid palate. Not really chomping at the bit to re-try.
3.75 really. Fresh cut grass, sweetgum, and some ash. A little pine sol on the finish. Pretty standard offering, not overly complex, slightly harsh finish.
Rose hips, lemongrass, smoke, leather. A great tobala! And tobalaâs arent really my fave.
Lavender, wildflowers, wet stone, rye bread. Enjoyable as a sunday morning drive.
Not even sure how to rate this. Bought a bottle a couple of years ago when it first hit the US, and maybe 95% of the liquid is still sitting in the bottle. Very sweet. Tastes like white dog corn whiskey mixed with xtabentun. Rough. Not for me… definitely gonna have to either pass off to friends to try or use in cocktails from here on out
Disclaimer: I need to revisit this one because im still not sure what to think. Reminds me more of the Mezonte lineup and less La Venenosa. Price was $129 in Dallas, kind of steep after tasting this bottle, imo. Lactic, dry, funky, moldy, musty mineral water. Pretty crazy in terms of mexican spirits, which is why I almost want to give this an incomplete at this point. Pretty sure its not a 5 star from me, and 3 stars definitely seems low based on what im tasting.
Exactly what Jonny said. Wasnt incredible, but didnt have many, if any drawbacks. Not mad I bought the bottle in the least
Another Austin Shaker âexclusive.â Anyone that has ever had a beligian gueuze beer can sympathize. Funk. Hay. Saddle blanket. Sour beer. Lactic. Oranges. Yeast. And a bunch of other flavors I cant put my finger on. Very complex, but not sure if thats a good thing with this one. Would love to see what oxygen does with this one.
Man, on 2nd and 3rd sip… still getting spontaneously fermented oak aged wild ales. Crazy. A one of a kind mezcal
Better than expected. Applesauce and a lotta karwinskiiâish flavors up front… then it lays you down on a silky mango/papaya marshmellow mattress while listening to Marvin Gaye with the lights down low. Very enjoyable, worth buying a bottle of this Austin Shaker exclusive… unfortunately, I was told this was the last bottle in stock đ
Finally tracked this down. Mama Rabbit – Las Vegas. $10 pour. Hay, anise, fruit orchard… dulce de leche finish. Solid. Reminds me of the Wahaka VdM Cenizo
Maybe a little disappointed I bought and entire bottle. A rare miss from E. Ramos. Very hot for its abv, almost overpowers the pour. Would love to know the percentages of the agaves used in this blend
