3.75/5. Musty. Like an army surplus. Mothball smell. Tastes how I imagine flannel tastes. Odd, but I kinda dig it
One of the better releases from MM as of late. Creamy mouthfeel, orange zest and caramel. Dig it
An interesting take on a sotol. Pine, cilantro, sage. Gonna revisit. Not sure if i love it or dislike it
Its good. Lotta subdued flavors. Nothing really dominating for me. Didnt wow me, but I certainly enjoyed it
An iconic Tep. Bone marrow meat butter had a baby with chartreuse barrel aged IPA. Borderline incredible.
Texas-only release iirc. If you are a fan of tequila, this is for you. Imagine a cross between the clay-earthiness of a Minas mezcal with the clear, crispiness of, say, a Fortaleza Blanco. This is the best marmorata ive ever had. Incredible
87% Tepeztate/ 13% Espadin. Austin Shaker exclusive. Sweet yams and almonds. Some awesome bbq notes as well… oak, candied sugar, vinegar bbq sauce. This is fantasti
3.75/5 Really reminds me of a standard espadin with come canela and lavender mixed in there. Not wow-ing. Slightly bitter
3.75/5 Only rounded up because the finish goes for days. Juicy fruit gum with smoked brisket. Fun
Fresh and green. Maybe its the name “verde” inserting itself into my brain. Olives and bell peppers. Finish is slightly briney. Overall, like a mexican martini, this thing just works
I got less smoke than Zack, but otherwise, somewhat similar experience. The lactic cheesiness is there, but there is also some minerality to it as well. Its strange.
Anise and vermouth. Really strange profile for a cuishe. Maybe its my awful palate? Will try again
Lets get funky. Cheese and olives. Muenster, bleu, and panela to be more exact. Kalamata brine with wheat thins. Enjoy the flavor packed in this, but the profile isnt for me. Still, you can tell this is well made
Texas-only release iirc. Spearmint gum and fruity mike and ikes. Not in offensive in the least. Enjoyable but didnt wow me. Still, I think ill buy a bottle next time I see one to revisit.
Ive had Bertas Mexicano before, but this iteration is different. I feel like this one is all dark and woody. Cedar, oak, pine. Grating finish that tastes pleasant but burns more than it should
Interesting. Grilled fruit… maybe pineapple? Some bell pepper in addition to baking spices and turbinado. Very nice
Not worth the price. However, there is nothing off-putting about this one. Cedar, horse blanket, granny smith apples. Fine
Overpowering pine sol in this that detracts from the solid tobala-ishness. Classic mint, bubblegum, some rock candy…. But for some damn reason I cant shake the pine sol. Maybe I got a bad dram? Will revisit
