Agree with Zack on the root beer. Dusty mango and licorice too. Very easy down the gullet. Orange juice finish
Peppers. Arbol and jalapeno mainly. Some tajin and bbq sauce. This is really good if you want deep, dark, mole-style flavors. Well made but not something I want in large quantities.
Sweet Chile Sugar Cookies. Enjoyable but not my favorite. Would never turn down a pour of this.
Pechuga de Borrego, Tahona Exclusive. Neck and neck with Rainy Lalocura Pechuga for the best ive ever had. Wonderful umami mixed with tropical fruits and fresh herbs. Everything is extremely well integrated. Not a hint of harshness. Finish isnt short, nor overlong…. Pops on the tongue like a fresh crudo or fruit salad. Not super meaty… just super awesome
Smell is rich of honey and green tea. Some sorghum and strawberries too. Taste in no way matches the nose. Ben Gay, butterkase cheese, and thyme. This is both disappointing and odd.
Honey Cough drops and Gasoline. The finish is strange on this one. As the liquid is going down the gullet, there is a “burnt tea” kinda note that really ruins the rest of the palate. Slight gasoline smell in there also that I dont care for. Will try again
3.75/5 I dunno, just tasted real “standard” or middle of the road for me. Was expecting more of an experience. Def got the bubble gum tho.
Really excited to try this one. However, I wasnt expecting the off-the-wall flavors that I picked up. Major burnt rubber tire, fresh beachball smell, taste is acrid with some maple and sweet corn. Finish is a little rough but really, the rubber flavors in this keep this from being 4 stars.
Super light. Missing the earthiness im used to in teps. Happy I didnt spring for a whole bottle.
Eucalyptus, ben gay, green tea, moth balls, mike and ikes, bbq sauce. Really odd combo that somehow works well. I cant pin this one down. Different with every sip, but enjoyable
Classic stand-by tep. Musty mothballs-esque notes. Sweet sticky leather. Cardamom with overripe oranges. Bazooka joe. Walks a fine line between enjoyable and “out there”
Strange. Overpowering cinnamon and cedar. Moth balls? If “old army surplus” was a flavor, this would nail it. Musty. Not sure if I like
On first sip, this pour is clean, fruity, and full of a thirst quenching freshness that almost takes your breath away. Juicy fruit, clove, cilantro, sweet potato. Finish is more yam/sweet potato, some tangerines. Delish
Lime topo chico. Skittles. Brown sugar. Tamarind. Cinnamon
Rock Candy. Cotton Candy. Simple Syrup. Molasses. Caramel. Ben Gay. Pine? Marshmallows
Intensely sweet. Almost cloying. Otherwise, awesome. Chocolate rainsinets. Toffee. Sage. Basil. Nice
Really enjoy this. Wasnt expecting rose hips, turbinado, and cedar, but here we are. All I can think about when I sip on this are the words “deep woods.” Tough to put into words, but really awesome papalote. May be the best example of the varietal ive ever had.
Bubble gum powder, burlap, mulch, sherry. Really strange combo that just works.
Classic bubblegum/pepto flavor I get from tobalas. This one is more enjoyable than most, but I feel as though there wasnt a single part of this dram that made me say “wow” or “thats good!” I know, shitty review write up, but I dont have much more to add at the moment.
I usually love Bertas stuff. This is just pedestrian. Im used to wet stone/fresh rain type of smell or taste, but this whole pour is just muted. If I try real hard, maybe I could make out some citrus somewhere in there.
