Rezpiral Espadin – Aureliano Hernandez Martinez

Aug 13, 2021

A fine, middle of the road espadin. Plums, cucumbers, basil. A little smoke. Not much there, and thats ok

Mal de Amor Tobala / Cuishe

Aug 11, 2021

Another winner from Mal de Amor. Thick, simple-syrup like mouthfeel. Lemon heads at first blush. More lemon as it goes down, including some pine and a little rauchbier on the finish. Diggin it

Mal de Amor Barril

Aug 10, 2021

Green. Coffee beans. Cantaloupe, red delicious apples. Finish is a tad hot for me… some gasoline type flavor in there that takes this down a full star

Mal de Amor Tobala

Aug 9, 2021

Banana runts all day. Mixed with the smell of wet hay and the taste of kiwi and green tea. Somehow, this holds together to form a different, albeit, pleasant tobala experience. Noice

Mal de Amor Tepextate / Cuishe

Aug 8, 2021

I.Love. the mouthfeel on this lineup. Smells of white peaches and basil. Taste is sunflower seeds, more peaches, some wet dirt road? This is awesome. Can still taste it

Maguey Melate Tobasiche / Barril – Gregorio Hernandez

Aug 7, 2021

Hot! Both literally (down the gullet) and in how badass this is. Rose hips, orange flower water, key lime, a touch of ancho chilis. Really nice

Gusto Historico Espadin / Bicuixe – Victor Ramos

Aug 5, 2021

Yup, Zack nailed the sweetness/cotton candy. Slight teriyaki flavor. Kettle corn and gushers fruit gummies

Gusto Historico Bicuixe / Tripon / Espadin / Arroqueno / Mexicano – Victor Ramos

Aug 4, 2021

3.75/5 I had this one with food so im not sure if it was my taste buds or the actual mezcal. However, I got a lotta umami flavors, along with tons of peach and kombucha. Odd pairing of notes, but I think it works together ok. Not incredible but not bad

Gusto Historico Tobaxiche Amarillo – Garcia

Aug 2, 2021

Solid. Rolos candy. Wheatgrass. Pecan wood. Maybe some pepto in there somewhere. A little disorganized but I still enjoy it

Maguey Melate Tepextate / Cuixe – Flavio Cesar

Aug 1, 2021

Maguey Melate has been on a tear recently! Earthy peach cobbler. Lemons. Mulch. Prickly pear. Ambrosia!

Lamata De Castilla Durango

Agree with Zack that there is some sort of bbq thing going on. Cumin, 5 spice, sweet baby rays sauce. I usually like my agaves more herbal or floral. This is fine, at least for a change of pace

Gusto Historico Tepextate – Vázquez

Jul 31, 2021

Distractingly musty. Almost to the point of being off-putting. Like drinking a cologne made from an Army Surplus store. Mothballs (taste or smell? Ive never tasted them), heme, geueze like funk, blue cheese. Maybe others will like the profile, but for a Tep, this is out there

Gusto Historico Arroqueno – Victor Ramos

Jul 30, 2021

Another classic from Victor. This super approachable Arroqueno has notes of lime, sawdust, pepto, and mamey. Really awesome combination that just works. Finish is more lime and mamey with some molasses.

Maguey Melate Coyote – Victor & Emanuel Ramos

Jul 30, 2021

I really really enjoyed this. Leather, tobacco, mint, oranges. Mmmmmm

Maguey Melate Sacatoro – Israel Petronilo Apolinar

Jul 28, 2021

Still unsure about where to rate this one. This is a placeholder for future use at this point

Maguey Melate Tequilana – Victor & Emanuel Ramos

Jul 25, 2021

4.25/5

One of my faves from MM. Heavy on the baking spices, clove, papaya. Vanilla latte and oyster mushrooms on finish

Pal’alma Oaxaca – Tobaxiche

Jul 24, 2021

Another winner from Erick. Had side by side with RM Largo and wad very similar. Pineapples, slate, leather. This bottle is gonna go quick

Pal’alma Guerrero – Cupreata Capon

Jul 23, 2021

Agree with Jonny on the toffee/caramel. Some granny smith too. Really nice minerality on the finish. Almost like it was mixed with a flat Rambler. Love this

Real Minero Barril, Espadin, Coyota, Tobala, Becuela

Jul 22, 2021

4.75/5 OTT Exclusive. One of the best mezcal experiences of the past few years. Like an incredible pilsner or hefe, this dram is easy to drink but nuanced enough to have you begging for more. Oranges and Dr Pepper. Lilac and vanilla. So.Glad.I.Bought.A.Bottle.

Cuentacuentos Arroqueño Ancestral

Jun 23, 2021

Super limited batch, or so im told. Nose is burnt sugar, vanilla, oranges. Taste is sugar babies candy and more of the oranges/tropical fruit. Strange pickle flavor on finish that im not sure I dig. Still, enjoyable
