Nose – Great balance between the espadin flavors and the barrel notes.
Palate – One of the better anejo mezcal expressions that I’ve tried. The barrel notes are in sync with the roasted agave flavors. I dig it!
Nose – Big time canned corn. Basketball sneaker rubber.
Palate – Fresh corn, sweet corn, canned corn, creamed corn – I think there is a theme here: corn! Good thing I’m a big fan of the elote. Like in the nose, some rubber and quality smoky notes chime in. Very nice! Lamata… you’re alright! 🙂
Nose – Vanilla birthday cake. Green beans. A sprinkle of white pepper.
Palate – Assorted jelly beans (I can’t nail down the flavor). White cheddar. Light white pepper. Olive oil. Roasted haricots. Smoke is nice in the finish – it has a little, itty bit of funkiness to it. Really good stuff!
Nose – Warm sourdough bread – very cool, this “bread funk” smell. The roasted cupreata note is niiiiiice – sweet and a tad tangy.
Palate – Like biting into a candied apple. A smooth, cigar finish. On the sweet side (but by no means not too much) and funk-light for capon. But damn! This is tasty.

Nose – Lime slices. Ocean breeze salinity. Sugar in the Raw.Palate – Tangerine sweetness. Brown sugar. Tangy lime citrus. Oaky, campfire smoke. Sharp, clean flavors. Love this! For me this is a near top-shelf ensamble at a mid-range price point.
Nose – A very fresh cupreata agave roast – not terribly funky for capon (more of a vibrant, fresh scent). Fanta grape soda.
Palate – The initial sip is an incredible slow build but then the flavors explode! Notes of a fruity, white wine. Dates. Dried sour cherry. A tangy cider. A nice, slick mouthfeel. The agave funk is there but much more subtle than some of the capons I’ve tried lately. It’s more flavor forward than funk forward. Excellent stuff!

Nose – Pleasant nose – roasted agave sweetness. Fairly grassy. A light fresh, grapefruit citrus note.Palate – Great mouth feel – almost a medium viscosity. Some orange zest bitterness. Grassy like the nose and a bit of woodiness too. Balanced flavor throughout – great heat and no burn. For a $40-ish espadin – this is rock solid value. Sips great on its own and I imagine it would make a bad ass cocktail.
Nose – Musty. Fresh mint. Grape Jolly Rancher.
Palate – Mouthfeel is watery. Cola bottle gummy flavor. Add to this some mesquite, crush mint and dried sage. An honest 47%, a few notches hotter perhaps. A big hit of a flat Coca-Cola and Sprite syrup mix up in the finish – quite dry as well. This mezcal is hella flavorful although they don’t necessarily work for me. Also, this is too thin (feeling) for my liking. Comme ci, comme ca.

Nose – A halved pink grapefruit with a bit of sugar sprinkled on it. A wet salamander. A nice roast on the tequilana agave – a slight funk to it.Palate – Mouthfeel is pretty thin. Magic marker. Well salted. Quite the amount of hickory smoke in the finish which is a somewhat rough (a bit burnt and tinny). At certain points an ethanol burn pops up.
Nose – A burnt wooden matchstick. Damp soil. Lime citrus. Baked apples drizzled with sweet cream.
Palate – Leathery. Lychee. Dry finish of tobacco leaf and a slight champagne note. Not too hot for 56%, great flavors! I really like this high proof.
Nose – Similar to their espadin – the barrel notes (oak) are subtle. I like it this way.
Palate – Unlike the nose, the wood/oak comes out more. This is still a good reposado even though aged mezcal usually isn’t my cup of tea.
Nose – Pear. Red apple. Fresh soil. Radish. Green carrot tops.
Palate – Cinnamon stick. Incredibly earthy – soil and root vegetables. Heat is a sweet, cinnamon spiciness – tasty. There is a very nice smoky, cheesecake note the came through in the aftertaste. This is an awesome mezcal, totally pops with flavor.
Batch: WHK-037
Nose – Cream soda. Very light smoked gruyere cheese. A tiny steel note as well.Palate – The tobala flavors are too suppressed and the smoke is rough for the price of this bottle. Way better tobala mezcal out there to be had.
Nose – Black pepper. Chopped green onions. Very nice – spicy and vegetal.
Palate – Floral sweetness. Black pepper and onions from the nose. BBQ grilled nopal. Then a hit of quality clay notes. Forteleza Blanco is one of my favorite tequilas and Greenspoint absolutely frickin’ nails this – it’s exactly what I thought of when I tasted it (although an upgraded clay version).
Nose – Carolina style BBQ sauce (a vinegar note in there to go with the sweetness). Plantain chips. Vanilla bean.
Palate – Vanilla ice cream. Tangy apple cider. Creamy pasta sauce with some blackening spice sprinkled in. Sprite soda. Mesquite smokiness in the finish.
1 oz. sample from Tahona Mercado – great mezcal!
Batch: DARMC-01 Bottle: 66/126 (ABV: 53.1%)
Nose – Delicious clay. Plain cheesecake.Palate – Buttery chocolate chip cookie. A slight asiago cheese note. Ocean cobblestone salinity. Extremely long sweet, clay finish. Lordy, this is desert island realm mezcal.
LOT: 02/TPZ
Nose – Green bell pepper. Catching some sweet red bell pepper too. New tennis shoe soles.Palate – Jalapeno. Lime Jolly Rancher. The vegetal, sweet, spicy and smoky elements are balanced perfect. And a subtle jalapeno spicy heat long into the finish. This stuff rocks!

(Espadin 80%, Bicuishe 20%)
Nose – Creamy vanilla. A touch of mint chip.Palate – Soft ice cream. Banana. Near medium viscosity. Pink salt. Slightly creamy, floral finish and the smoke is a good balance throughout. The banana comes through again in the aftertaste. A very nice ensamble for the mid-range price point.
Lote: TEP-05 (2021) Botella: 96
Nose – Halved jalapenos. Violets. Olive oil. Cooked pasta.Palate – Quite the combination of vegetal and floral notes. Icing sugar. Some shaved parmesan cheese in the finish. Definite alcohol burn in the back end. Very flavorful but definitely on the smokier side.
Batch: JAI-PLU-002 Bottle: 117
Nose – Prunes. Semi-sweet dark chocolate. Cheesecake. A pleasant nose.Palate – Very greasy. An olive oil note. Jarred olive brine. It’s got a funkiness to that is a bit off putting (and I usually love funky mezcals). Finish is hot and a bit harsh for 45% ABV. This was interesting to try but I won’t be reaching for this bottle too often.
